Ortem 013 casts off with boss man Metro steering the boat once again, with a 6 track extravaganza.

Title track 88 Pacific is a collab with doctor Beat himself, Jason oS. It contains waves, ambience, synth sensibilities and warm pads that can only be supplied by the modular master Jason oS.

Bad Funk is the sound a computer running into a massive cowbell and having a coming together. The blinds on the window rattle as there is an audio assault out in the street, lead by deep held bass, vocal snippets and drum machine breaks, an ‘Amen’ is called for, but not one you are expecting.

Gadget starts by sending off a morse code distress signal, amongst high tension, the message builds. It is answered by a stuttered 2 step beat and an ‘awesome DJ’. These are joined by a squelching bass, ominous chords as the gadgets do there work.

Blue Walk strolls out with lush pads, percussion and vocal hits.
It is joined by an 808 bass as the beat gradually builds, whilst keeping a leisurely pace. Urgency arrives midday as the breaks pick up the pace and the pads stay lush, all driven by the bass. More vocal creep into the rhythm as the journey goes on.

The Future is Dark is a acidic, 2 step roller, punctuated by a lone wood block. The pad work is sinister and builds and resonates throughout the track, whilst Dark vocals echo off into static and the inner workings of technology.

Big Miles starts at a nice easy jazz tempo, it builds via triplet drums and neatly placed bass hits. The loop grows and builds as fresh segments are added. It reaches its crescendo with some of Miles’s famous off-key jazz doodlings.
